User and Password Authentication (Local Authentication)

Local Authentication requires an Agility Blue username and password to login.

Options include:

  • Changing a user’s password.

  • Enabling/Disabling Two-Factor Authentication.

Changing a User’s Password

To change a user’s password, click on the Change Password link in the side panel on the user details page.

Heads up!

Organization Administrators may change user passwords. This can be useful if a user forgot their password and are unable to use the Forgot Password? link on the login page.

Notice!

Passwords must be no less than 6 characters containing at least 1 number, 1 letter, and 1 symbol.

Password Generator

A password generator is available to help generate strong passwords if desired. Click on the button with a key for the icon next to the Save button to launch a new window for password assistance.

The Generate Password dialog window has the following fields:

  • Generated Password button

    Displays a random password each time the “Generate Password” button is pressed.

  • Uppercase Characters switch

    Turn on if you wish to include uppercase characters in the generated password.

  • Numbers switch

    Turn on if you wish to include numbers in the generated password.

  • Symbols switch

    Turn on if you wish to include symbols in the generated password.

  • Length slider

    Slide left or right to determine the number of characters to use in the generated password.

When finished with generating a password, click on the Use button to have Agility Blue insert the generated password into the Change Password dialog window.

Copy the password!

Prior to clicking the Use button, the password should be copied and saved somewhere. There is no way to retrieve passwords from the system for security reason — they can only be changed.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For added account protection, Agility Blue offers users the ability to use Two-Factor Authentication during the login process. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security that requires a username, password, and a dynamically generated code to login. The code can only be generated from the account owner’s phone via the Microsoft or Google Authenticator apps. Adding this method makes it very difficult for potential intruders to gain access on the user’s behalf even if the intruder knows the user’s username and password.

To setup two factor authentication, click on the Enable Two-Factor Authentication link in the Action panel on the user details page.

A preliminary notice will appear that explains what the user will need to do.

After clicking Yes, the private two-factor key will be presented.

The key must be entered into the authenticator of your choice (Google or Microsoft). It is important to keep it secret and not share it with anyone because it is used to generate the rolling one-time password code (OTP) that Agility Blue will require for subsequent logins.

Did you know?

Any OTP authenticator application will work offline (such as the Google, Microsoft, or Duo mobile authenticator apps), so no internet connection is needed to retrieve the code.

Example: Google Authenticator on an Apple iPhone

To setup the Google Authenticator app on an iPhone, follow these 3 steps:

  1. Install and Launch the Google Authenticator app

  2. Click on Begin Setup

  3. Agility Blue provides a QR barcode so you do not need to enter the key manually. Choose Scan barcode and position your phone’s camera to point at the QR barcode on your monitor.

Subsequent logins into Agility Blue will require the current code issued from the authenticator immediately after entering the username and password on the login page. The one-time password code (OTP) lasts for 30 seconds and will turn red right before it changes to a new code.
